RES GESTAE
The alumni magazine of the S.J. Quinney College of Law
Summer 2023 Issue
Welcome to the newest issue of Res Gestae, Utah Law's alumni magazine!
In this issue we remember Professor Alexander Tallchief Skibine, who passed away in February 2023 of glioblastoma, a rare brain cancer. Skibine taught at S.J. Quinney for 34 years and was a leading scholar in Indian law.
We also spotlight alumna Noella Sudbury, founder of Rasa Legal, and learn about her career in criminal justice reform. Finally, alumna Bethany Hardwig discusses her Master of Legal Studies (MLS) degree and her brand-new job in alumni and donor connections.
We want to hear from you, too! Share your professional and personal accomplishments with fellow Utah Law alumni by submitting to Class Notes, which we publish each year in our fall issue of Res Gestae.

From the Editor’s Desk: Summer 2023
Aug 04, 2023I’m excited to present the summer issue of Res Gestae! Though this is my first time working in academia, I’m the daughter of two public educators who instilled in me a love for learning and a passion for reading. My maiden name is Law, and my father secretly hoped one of his children would become a lawyer.
From our Director of Alumni Relations: We Want to Hear From You!
Aug 08, 2023We are on the cusp of a new year of students and classes. I’m so grateful to all of you who have helped our students and participated in events to support them. They gain so much from your experiences, and it gives them the confidence to know they, too, can accomplish great things.
