TEACHING SUPPORT
Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI):
The Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI) hosts and facilitates the creation of CALI Lessons, a library of over 1,200 interactive legal tutorials written by law professors and geared towards law students.
Complimentary Copies of Course Textbooks:
Publishers may provide complimentary copies of textbooks you are thinking about adopting in your courses. If you would like to see if a complimentary copy of a textbook is available, please contact Hiroko Hashitani (hiroko.hashitani@law.utah.edu). Include information about the book, the publisher, the course name, and the semester it will be offered in your email.
FACULTY & STAFF RESOURCES
Course Reserve Services:
The library purchases a copy of all “Required” course books for J.D. classes each semester and makes them available on Course Reserve. We do not purchase optional or recommended materials, but if they are already in our collection, they will also be put on Course Reserve. If you have questions about course reserves, please contact Hiroko Hashitani (hiroko.hashitani@law.utah.edu).
Seminar Paper/Portfolio Writing Assistance for Students:
The library supports students in seminars and other paper courses in the fall and spring semesters. Training covers selecting a topic, preemption, and available sources. Students receive emails in advance of the training.
Librarians are available to create research guides geared toward specific courses. Request these or other services by emailing suzanne.darais@law.utah.edu.
In-Class Research Instruction:
Librarians are available to guest lecture in law classes on course specific legal research. The library’s J.D. librarians all have teaching experience and are happy to work with students in a particular class either in or out of the classroom. Contact suzanne.darais@law.utah.edu who will match librarian specialties with classes.
