Dear alumni,
We are on the cusp of a new year of students and classes. I’m so grateful to all of you who have helped our students and participated in events to support them. They gain so much from your experiences, and it gives them the confidence to know they, too, can accomplish great things.
I also want to thank everyone that has participated in our alumni survey so far. The results are telling: A majority of our respondents are most interested in attending reunions. Rest assured, we are trying to reinstitute those in a way that meets everyone’s desires and will likely work alongside our Utah Law Awards Dinner.
Another fun program we are beginning is ULAMP, the U Law Alumni Mentoring Program. This is a simple, straightforward, student-driven program where we match students interested in a particular practice area with alumni that practice that type of law to have at least one conversation—in person or virtually—about that field of practice. There is no long-term commitment after the first conversation unless both the mentor and student choose to continue the relationship.
If you are interested in participating in ULAMP, please provide your information (we keep information private and only share it with the student/students who enroll in the program). I will work with the students and alumni to make the first introduction, and the student will reach out to set up an appointment to talk.
I hope many of you will join this program, because the value I know you bring to our students is immeasurable.
Look for more alumni news coming this fall!
Sincerely,
Lori Nelson
Director of Alumni Relations
