If you need assistance with something not listed below, please fill out the faculty services request form. We will make every effort to connect you with the research support you need.

Current Awareness Services:

If you need assistance setting up current awareness alerts in a database, please contact your library liaison.

Faculty members are invited to contact their liaisons for all of their library needs. Library Liaisons for each faculty member are listed below. Quinney Fellows should also feel free to contact liaisons for assistance and guidance with faculty research. If a liaison cannot be reached and immediate assistance is required, faculty members are asked to call the Reference Desk at (801) 581-6184 or the service desks at (801) 581-6438, or to email reference@law.utah.edu.  Please direct any questions about the program to Suzanne Darais at suzanne.darais@law.utah.edu.

Research Support Services:

All requests for services can be submitted using the faculty services request form. Your request will be routed to the appropriate librarian, the Quinney pool, etc. Examples of requests include:

  • Research consultations to develop research plans and discuss needs
  • Requests for training on databases and other library resources
  • Reference questions
  • Research projects
  • Quick article pulls
  • Assistance tracking down hard-to-find materials
  • Interlibrary loan requests
  • RA/Quinney training, including training on how to use the Bluebook

Quinney Pool Research Support Requests:

The Quinney Fellowship Program provides research-productive faculty with student research support for discrete projects throughout the academic year. To submit a request for student research support, please send an email to qfrequests@law.utah.edu and provide the following information:

Brief summary of the research project, including:
Legal subject area(s)
Work product requested (memo, Bluebooking, etc.)
Specific resource for student to use, if applicable and known
Estimate of hours necessary to complete the project
Preferred student researcher(s), if any
Any training you would like the student researcher to receive before or during the project

To ensure equitable distribution of this limited resource, faculty will be required to submit requests through this system. Faculty cannot contact Quinney fellows directly to assign them work. If your request does not include a brief summary of the research project, including 1) the legal subject area, 2) the work product requested, and 3) the estimated hours necessary for the project, your request will not be complete and will not be logged in the system to enter the queue.

Requests will be prioritized based on a combination of these factors: (1) whether job description requires research, (2) history of scholarship production, (3) number of requests made, (4) hours used, and (5) date and time of receipt of their complete request. If you have additional questions about priority rules, please contact Associate Dean Teneille Brown.
